Ubiquitous Secure Electronic Voting (u-SEV) is an INNPACTO project (IPT-2012-0598-430000) co-funded by the Ministerio de Economia y Competitividad of the Spanish Government and the European Fund for the Regional Development (FEDER). Its main goal is to develop pre-commercial secure electronic voting system for environments lacking of a good telecommunication infrastructure.The system is being developed by a consortium led by Scytl, our group SeNDA (UAB), and the Information Security Group (UPC).

In the context of this project, our research group has been in charge of the communication network that must guaranty connectivity even in areas with no telecommunication infrastructure. This has been possible thanks to the use of Delay and Disruption Tolerant Networking technology that has been largely studied by our research group. Refer to Active-DTN for more information.

As a result of this project, a new communication platform have been developed together with a communication layer for apps to be developed on top of this kind of networks:

El Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad español (MINECO), dentro del Plan Nacional de Investigación Científica, Desarrollo e Innovación Tecnológica 2008-2011, concedió ayuda al proyecto “Ubiquitous Secure Electronic Voting (u-SEV)” liderado por SCYTL con número de expediente IPT-2012-0598-430000. Este proyecto ha sido financiado por el Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad (MINECO) y el Fondo Europeo de Desarrollo Regional (FEDER) dentro del Subprograma INNPACTO, Convocatoria 2012. El objetivo del proyecto es desarrollar un sistema de voto electrónico para países emergentes con un alto riesgo de fraude electoral y que no disponen de una infraestructura de telecomunicaciones fiable.
